Happy Moments, by Joy Choi, Pocket Zine, 2024

This project is designed to help my co-workers quit smoking. Especially, the typography, 'Happy Moments,' printed inside a cigarette case-shaped book cover, along with grey scale photographs and encouraging messages. This particular design reflects my wish that colleagues, who are tempted to smoke, look at the messages, feel encouraged, and overcome their cravings. I successfully shared more than ten copies of portable pocket zine with my co-workers.

Sleepy Blue at School, by Joy Choi, Health-Education Design Project, 2025

This project is designed for the educational purpose of preventing a possible discrimination that students aged 6-7, who are diagnosed with narcolepsy, but particularly those who do not have cataplexy symptoms, may confront, as they are mistaken for being lazy and easily distracted. I used the unique character design of Blue, classmates and teacher, inspired by a cup of jelly and warm-coloured texts to engage the young readers’ interests and feel a sense of closeness to the character.

Ant Trouble, by Joy Choi, 2025

This project is a short storybook about getting rid of ants that appeared in my room. I wrote the story myself and created illustrations that focus on typography, transforming the letters of the word “ant” into ant-like forms. The book was produced in both English and Korean (Hangul) editions, and finished with a hand-sewn stitch binding. A fabric cover was also made to hold the two books together for easy carrying.
